Introduction
I had made it my purpose to write a chess book during the pandemic since the chess club is still closed. However, it is a harder task than I expected and I have not gotten it done. The first chapter is about C.H.E.S.S. Goals and how to use them to succeed. I even used them to finally lose over 100 pounds. So, I thought I should apply them to the book and see if they could work there too.
The first letter in the CHESS acronym is C, which stands for Counsel. So, I am seeking counselors who might have advice on writing a book. The first item on which you can weigh-in is about the cover. I was thinking about using this guy. My son created him when we were making the Chess Parables DVD. Kind of cute, eh? He should bring in the buyers.

Conclusion Of The Whole Matter
Counsel is a lot more common in the Old Testament than the New Testament. However, I stuck with my usual goal of getting 4 verses from the Old Testament. I went with Proverbs and Isaiah as they are the top sources in the OT. Proverbs even has one of my favorite verses: Proverbs 20:18. I used this verse to commemorate my first place finish in the Colorado Closed chess tournament, where I earned one of my Candidate Master norms.
The New Testament had a more sparse selection from which to choose. I found some other ideas like listening and exhortation that seems to fit the counsel theme. They also drive home the point that the source of the counsel is important and that not all advice is beneficial.
